You will then be transferred comfortably to your hotel. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey takes approximately one hour. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to rest after your international flight and begin absorbing the unique energy of this magnificent city.
Overnight in Istanbul
Today, we step into the very heart of history — the Old City, where Byzantine and Ottoman legacies still shape daily life.
Our morning begins at the ancient Hippodrome, once the social and political center of Constantinople for over a thousand years. This vast arena hosted chariot races, imperial ceremonies, coronations, and public celebrations. As you walk through the square, you will see monuments such as the Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpentine Column, silent witnesses to centuries of history.
From here, we continue to the magnificent Blue Mosque, officially known as Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Still an active place of worship, this architectural masterpiece is celebrated for its harmonious proportions and over 20,000 handmade İznik tiles that decorate its interior. Its six minarets and cascading domes define the skyline of old Istanbul.
Just across the square stands the Hagia Sophia, one of the most extraordinary monuments in the world. Built in 537 AD, it was the largest cathedral on earth for nearly a millennium. Having served as a church, mosque, museum, and again a mosque, it represents layers of religious and architectural history unmatched anywhere else. Inside, you will witness the incredible dome, Christian mosaics, and Islamic calligraphy coexisting under one breathtaking roof.
Before lunch, we descend into the mystical Basilica Cistern. This underground water reservoir, supported by hundreds of marble columns, once supplied water to the Great Palace. The dim lighting, reflections on the water, and the famous Medusa heads create an almost cinematic atmosphere.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant overlooking Hagia Sophia, offering both delicious Turkish cuisine and a view to remember.
In the afternoon, we visit the Topkapi Palace, the imperial residence of the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years. As we explore its courtyards, treasury rooms, and pavilions, you will gain insight into the power and daily life of the Ottoman court. From its terraces overlooking the Bosphorus, we pause to enjoy Turkish coffee while taking in one of the most iconic views in the city.
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Istanbul
This morning, we walk toward the Golden Horn to embark on a Bosphorus cruise — a journey between two continents.
As the boat glides between Europe and Asia, you will see waterfront Ottoman mansions, imperial palaces, wooden yali houses, and impressive fortresses lining the shores. For over an hour, you will experience Istanbul from the water — the most elegant way to understand its geography and strategic importance.
After returning, we explore the vibrant Spice Bazaar, where exotic spices once arrived from India and the Far East before continuing to Europe. Today, the market is filled with colorful displays of spices, teas, Turkish delight, dried fruits, and local delicacies.
A short walk brings us to the hidden jewel of the district: Rustem Pasha Mosque. Modest in size but breathtaking inside, it features some of the finest İznik tile work of the Ottoman period — often considered even more detailed than those of the Blue Mosque.
We then continue to the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. With thousands of shops spread across a labyrinth of streets, it offers carpets, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, and antiques. Beyond shopping, it is an immersive cultural experience where bargaining remains a living tradition.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon.
